Breast Cancer 2011

It is predicted that about 230,000 women in the US will get diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2011, and about 40,000 will die from the disease. Besides for being a woman, age is the second highest risk factor (1). Most women that receive the diagnose, develops the disease after menopause which is linked to hormone changes in the body.  Without the menstrual cycle the body no longer produces progesterone in adequate amounts and allows the estrogen levels to rise above preferred levels in comparison - a high risk factor for developing Breast Cancer. Using natural progesterone cream is one way of preventing the horrifying diagnose.(3)

Vitamin D also has a crucial role in preventing Breast Cancer. We can see this in numbers that shows there are less Breast Cancer diagnoses during the summer months, and that Breast cancer more often hit women in the Northeast compared to the sunny Southwest. The sunlight is our most important natural provider of vitamin D as the body transforms the UV-radiation into Vitamin D in the skin. Studies have shown that Vitamin D blood levels over 40ng/ml (100mmol/l) will lower the risk of Breast Cancer with 30%. And many cancer centers today are giving patients 5,000 IU (125 mcg) of Vitamin D3 a day to boost their immune system.(2)

Get enough sleep! Melatonin production has been linked to reduced risk of breast cancer. Melatonin is a hormone that is being released while you are sleeping. However, the hormone can only be produced under completely darkness, so sleeping with the TV on or a light somewhere will inhibit the very important hormone from being produced.(2)

While there are many risk factors linked to developing Breast Cancer not much is said about what affects the outcome. Many studies have shown that blood type is highly linked to Breast Cancer outcome in the following matter:

Blood type O – Slightly degree of resistance, and lower risk of death
Blood type A – Higher risk, worse outcomes, and more rapid progression (Type A is overly represented in Brest Cancer victims)
Blood type B – Slight degree of resistance, and lower risk of death unless there is a family history of breast cancer, higher risk of recurrence
Blood type AB – Higher risk, worse outcomes, and more rapid progression(4)

General recommendations on diets are often given in order to prevent Cancer and other diseases. While we all need to eat more vegetables and fruits it is also important to understand that not all ‘good’ food is good for everyone. Different people thrive on different nutrition based on our genetic history; food can either make your immune system stronger or weaker. To blindly following a, for example: “no red meat and more whole wheat” recommendation can be destructive for some, while wonderful for others.(4)

Men also have a slight risk of developing breast cancer, although very uncommon. About 2,000 men is predicted to get the diagnose in the US in 2011 and most of them will be between the age of 65 and 67. Men usually get the diagnose further into the development of the disease as men are less likely to have it medically examined as early as women does.(1)

Increasing your awareness of breast cancer might save you from getting the dreaded diagnose, or help you recover from it. Make sure you take advantage of the knowledge you are given. __________________________________________

FitLine - Boost your body's nutrition absorption!

I figured I would share some information about FitLine, the products I have been taking since late December 2010.

FitLine is a German company that produces and sells supplements through network distribution. The US headquarter is located outside Pittsburg, PA. Many of their products are world patented for their delivery system technology. The products are produced so that it can be absorbed by the body both faster and better, and therefore the amounts does not have to be as high as they are in regular pills. The body can absorb about 20% of a pill; with this absorption technology the body will be absorbing about 80%+ of what you are taking!!! A far better and more advanced approached then what we can get from the numerous of pills and brands at the drug store.

FitLine has many products ranging from weight management products and protein to vitamin and mineral supplements as well as more targeted supplements for heart health or similar. On the surface some of their products may look like any other low potent multivitamin product, but what separates them from the rest is the great delivery and absorption system.

And on a personal level – these products beats them all when it comes to taste! I actually drink my morning mix as my breakfast juice; it is really THAT good. All of their supplements are either in powder form that you mix with water or liquid drops that you mix with water.

Cell Energy
One of their pack products is called the Cell Energy Pack. It contains three products called Activize, Basics, and Restorate and from my perspective they include everything a person needs every day on a first level. Activize is the activating vitamin mix, filled with vitamin B’s and antioxidants to keep you going the whole day. Basics is the basic nutrition your body needs for a good digestive system, including fiber and probiotics. Restorate is the product that is filled with minerals and vitamins that restore your body over the night and getting it ready for a new day. The Basics and Activize is taken in the morning for best effect and Restorate in the evening. You can also take Activize throughout the day if you need an extra boost sometime.
To learn more about these products or other products available at FitLine, visit my website at http://fitline.com/?TP=6098012&cid=223

You can live anywhere in the world to place an order, it does not have to be in the US. You can select to buy the products on a one time basis (Quick Order) or you can choose to have the products delivered to your address once a month (Autoship). Off course you also have the opportunity to become a distributor, and something I recommend if you are going to have the products delivered to you every month – just in case you like it so much and feel like sharing it with your friends and family. That way you can work towards getting your products for free and soon maybe also be getting some secondary income from this venue. It is all up to you! :)

Send me an email if you have any questions and I will be happy to help you. helena.mathis@hotmail.com

If you chose to call the company directly at 1(800) 686-1760 make sure to mention my Team Partner number 6098012.

And if you already decided to go for it and sign up as a distributor just go to this website and fill out the information and you are good to go (you can also send me an email so I know) 6098012.pm-quickstart.com (Off course you can end your membership at any time).

I can only speak for myself - but I really like these products.

Flu, my favorite subject!

I despise all ads about medication in general but the flu vaccine ads actually makes my heart beat a little faster and I get angry! Yes, I get angry.. they are painting up this picture that the flu is the worst illness in your life and that you just HAVE to get vaccinated to be responsible. You have to protect your family, your co-workers, and others... or you are not a good citizen!

On top of that they say that getting the vaccine is really the ONLY way you can be safe and flu free for yet another year. They even have a dot-Gov website for promoting it!

What happened to the "eat right, exercise, get enough sleep, get fresh air, take some supplements, stay clean" idea?! I bet we are a few people that can prove that it works pretty good! In fact, I think we can prove that by going about it the natural way we will be able to build up our OWN immune system and if we get the flu anyway, it would be easier handled by our body. With every flu you actually get your immune system will build up immunity to that flu for a LIFETIME - not just a year like the vaccine.. Now, isn't that a better deal?!

No artificial injections, no money paid, no possible side effects, and immunity for a life time. Who can beat that?! Not this stupid vaccine, that's for sure.

Off course, getting the flu sucks, I am not going to deny that - I have had it in the past and it is a pest.. but just like a regular cold, it passes.

I wonder what would happen if people just stopped getting this vaccine, would the world collapse? Would we loose so much tax money from all of these paid shots, would people loose jobs, would we all walk around and be sick all the time? Yeah, this flu is dangerous alright.. just not in the way you would think.

Just a few tips

To be successful in weight loss there is a little more to it than to eat less and exercise more. We also have to make sure that the body is prepared for the sometimes big changes we will be going through.

So there is generally four things that you should NOT ignore:
  • Exercise - this is very personal to us all depending on how much we are used to move around. For some a walk in the park could be hard and for some a 5k run is like warm-up. Normally best result is achieved by doing 60 minutes of cardio per day, 5-6 days a week. (you need a day of rest per week too). Make sure you are breaking a sweat! When you get the hang of it - interval training will boost your metabolism even more. So vary your training so your body does not get used to it and need more in order for you to loose weight.
  • What you eat - The first and most important step in changing your diet is to get rid of your carb-cravings. This is easiest achieved by having regular meals, and rather eat too much than too little or eat more often than not, just so you don't get to the point where you just have to have that snickers or something similar. Normally it takes between 2 to 3 weeks to get rid of the cravings for sugar and other carbs so hang in there and don't give up! After you have stabilized your blood sugar and your cravings you can start putting up a good meal plan, with regular times. Some people say that more meals with less food is good, and others say that less meals with more food is ok too. I have tried them both and find that eating 6-7 times a day is hard - I just can't get it all in a day with everything that has to get done. I eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and will have two snacks during the day - that should do it for me. If you like protein shakes eating 6-7 meals might not be that hard but I can't stand them!
  • Water - I am sure you all know to drink lots of water. But in a weight loss process the water is a way to flush your system and is crucial for success! If you aren't already drinking at least one gallon (4 liters) a day start NOW! If you have a hard time doing it get into the habit of drinking a large glass before every meal (it will not equal up to everything you need but at least it is a start).
  • Supplements - Our bodies need to stay healthy in order to achieve our goals. If we don't take supplements we are bound to quit before we are done because we get sick... A cold or even sore muscles can make people quit. So supplements are more important than you would think. And I am off course NOT recommending a multivitamin or synthetic vitamins and minerals. All natural please! I will provide you with what I am taking in my first update.
Any more tips out there?

Did I ever mention Vitamin D?

Dr. Mercola is explaining it for us... it is really just this simple - I promise
To get the full story posted with this video go to:
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/12/03/How-to-Prevent-the-Flu-Easy-as-1-2-3.aspx

Dr. Mercola also shares this:
According to the CBS News study, when you come down with chills, fever, cough, runny nose, malaise and all those other "flu-like" symptoms, the illness is likely caused by influenza at most, 17 percent of the time, and as little as 3 percent! The other 83 to 97 percent of the time it's caused by other viruses or bacteria.

My simple and short answer for what is causing a cold or flu has always been that it’s due to an impaired immune system. That’s still true. However, research has confirmed that “catching” colds and flu may be a symptom of an underlying vitamin D deficiency! Less than optimal vitamin D levels will significantly impair your immune response and make you far more susceptible to contracting colds, influenza, and other respiratory infections.Although there are many ways you might end up with a weakened immune system, the more common contributing factors are:
  • Vitamin D deficiency, as previously mentioned
  • Eating too much sugar and too many grains
  • Not getting enough sleep
  • Insufficient exercise
  • Inadequately managing emotional stressors in your life
  • Any combination of the above
In order to prevent the flu, children and adults need 35 IU of vitamin D per pound of body weight. So, for example, a child weighing 57 pounds would need 2,000 IU a day of vitamin D.
Adults typically need an average of 5,000 IU per day—but some adults have to take 20,000 to 30,000 IU daily to get their vitamin D level up to optimal levels. Exactly how adults absorb and process vitamin D so differently is still somewhat of a mystery, so the only way to know if your vitamin D level is therapeutic and nontoxic is by having your blood tested.

Thank you Dr Mercola!!!

Vitamin D, LCHF and Swine Flu

Today at work everyone received an email about the swine flue; stating different things to think about when trying to prevent getting infected by it, but what they also said was "Do not self-medicate" and I wrote a response to their contact email. I am not expecting to see an answer, or an action based on what I wrote, but I was unable to keep quiet. So after sending it to them I thought I could send it to all of you, so I can educate more people than only those reading that email:

Hello,

First of all I would like to thank you for constantly updating us on the Swine flu issue; and as we are reaching fall and winter season soon information like this should increase, helping people to remember some easy avoiding techniques.

However, I think it is horribly wrong to tell people “Do not self-medicate” as there are numerous of findings out there telling us to what benefits we can receive from adding Vitamin D3 to our daily diet.

Vitamin D has been known for many years as the bone health vitamin only. Luckily we know much better today – as there are Vitamin D receptors on almost every cell in the body (Dr. E. Owings). Vitamin D is also referred to as the sunshine-vitamin as we receive most of our Vitamin D levels from skin exposure to the UVB light from the sun. As a matter of fact the skin can make up to 50,000 IU of Vitamin D in one day, even though 20,000 IU is more common (Dr. E. Owings).

Vitamin D is technically not a vitamin, but a hormone. And at enough vitamin D levels in the blood, vitamin D is known to prevent from: 17 different cancers, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, depression, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, muscle wasting, birth defects, periodontal disease (Dr. J. Cannell). And as well as improving many diseases Vitamin D gives us substantial protection from viral infections, including influenza and the swine flue (Dr. W. Davis).

As the US government recommendation stays at a low 200 IU per day – experts are calling for much higher dosages: Children are recommended to take 1000 IU per every 25 pounds of body weight and the recommendation for adults is 5000 IU or more if over weight. A recommended blood level of vitamin D should stay in between 50-80 ng/mL (125-200 nM/L) (Dr. J. Cannell) and this can be tested through a test called: 25-hydroxyvitamin D test at your doctor’s office.

So how do we obtain an efficient level of Vitamin D? Either we can spend most of our days outside in the sun with as little clothes as possible, right?! Well wrong – it is impossible, in the winter, for those who live above the 37th parallel to get enough vitamin D from sunlight. The 37th parallel would represent a line starting in Santa Cruz (south of San Francisco) California continuing on the northern border of Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina… And still the people on the southern side of this border people are not getting enough Vitamin D by sun exposure (Dr. E. Owings). Why? Well air pollutant, sun block, fear of skin cancer, skin color – the lighter skin the better we can absorb the vitamin D from the sun, and age – the older we are the less effective is the vitamin D metabolism in the skin.

So what else contains vitamin D3? Milk – an adult would have to drink 50 glasses in a day to obtain these levels, and this is off course not something anyone should do. But the proper way of supplementing vitamin D3 is by food supplementation that can be found in many local stores such as CVS or GNC.

Why Vitamin D3 and not just Vitamin D. Well if you go to your doctor and ask for vitamin D he will simply give you D2. D2 is called Ergocalciferol and is made from irradiated mushrooms and is not a human form of vitamin D as vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) is. D3 is extracted from wool in an animal friendly way. The reason why most doctors gives you D2 is based on pharmaceutical industry marketing and not concern for what is healthiest or most natural (Dr. E. Owings). D2 is not only unnatural to us humans, but not even nearly as efficient as D3. To reach the same levels as 5,000 IU of D3 you need to supplement with 15,000 IU of D2 (Dr. W. Davis). Also, Vitamin D3 does not come with all the side effects that D2 has.

So what does Vitamin D3 do to prevent the swine flue? Well it boosts the immune system better than anything out there. It boosts both the innate and the immediate immune system (Dr. J. Cannell) giving you the best protection ever recorded (Dr. E. Owings).

Off course there are other things we can do to boost our immune system but most people will think I am crazy when saying this: Stop eating, or at least decrease your intake of highly inflammatory carbohydrates (bread, pasta, potatoes, chips, rice, cake, breakfast cereals…) and start eating more natural cheeses, butter, animal fat, avocados, cream and so on. Never look at a “low fat” or “non fat” product ever again! If you are still dead set on that carbohydrates being healthy for you, please start supplementing with some Omega 3 as you are getting too many unhealthy omega 6 from your daily carbohydrates…

A low carbohydrate diet contains of 10 gr per day and a mediate intake contains of 50 gr per day. Levels over this should be avoided for a better health, along with eating high levels of natural fat.

I would be very happy if you could distribute at least a little note to our employees about the benefits of supplementing with Vitamin D3 over the fall-winter-spring season as it is known to fight many unwelcomed diseases and illnesses. I would be more than happy to be a contact person for people with questions regarding this, but I understand if this is a legal matter too.

Vitamin D - the master of hormone! (Author Dr. Owings)

A fantastic hormone is working in your body right now. It has been called a master hormone, and it helps regulate blood pressure, bone density, mood and behavior, muscle strength, hair growth, immune function, and programmed cell death. This process of programmed cell death is called apoptosis, and it is important in stopping damaged or cancerous cells from reproducing.

What could it be? Growth hormone? Testosterone? Insulin?

None of the above! In fact, medicine was ignorant of its multiple functions for so long, that it was named a vitamin, because just a little bit of it prevents rickets. Still give up? It’s vitamin D!

Whereas even a few years ago, scientists thought this amazing vitamin only controlled bone health, we now know that there are vitamin D receptors on almost every cell in the body.

Humans obtain vitamin D by conversion of substances in the skin after exposure to UVB, light from the sun. We can make up to 50,000 IU of vitamin D in our skin in one day, although 20,000 IU is much more common. As the amount in our skin increases, the skin production diminishes, keeping the supply steady—assuming we get a lot of sunshine. Compared to the paltry amount in foods (cod liver oil contains 400 IU, and fortified milk contains only 100 IU—just enough to prevent rickets), our skin was clearly intended to be our major source of vitamin D. But there are several problems with obtaining your vitamin D only from the sun, especially in the Western world.

The farther north we go, the less vitamin D we can make from our skin. Experts tell us that, in the winter, it is impossible for those who live above the 37th parallel to get enough vitamin D from sunlight. This represents a line starting in Santa Cruz, just south of San Francisco, California, continuing eastward at the northern border of Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina, and ending at the coast. The majority of Americans would be vitamin D deficient in winter even if they wore no clothes and stayed in the sun all day long!

Even in the summer, there are many factors fighting our vitamin D production. Given the concerns over skin cancer and aging, many people use sun block on a daily basis. Sun block even appears in make-up and lotions. We spend most of our time indoors where window glass blocks from our skin the UVB light necessary for the production. Darkly pigmented skin functions as natural sun block, so it is estimated that dark skin requires 5 to 6 times longer to make the same amount of vitamin D as a fair or light skin. The skin of the elderly is less efficient at conversion, and obese people also are at high risk of vitamin D deficiency.

So living in the South, in the summer, we all should have plenty of vitamin D, right? Wrong again. Health professionals in the sunny South have been checking vitamin D levels, and despite well-tanned skin, normal vitamin D levels are rare, even in late summer, when levels should be highest.

So how should we get our vitamin D? And what kind is best? Supplementing vitamin D, specifically D3, is necessary for most people in industrialized nations. Vitamin D3 is also called cholecalciferol, and while the recommended daily allowance of up to 600 IU is only enough to prevent rickets, experts are now calling for much higher amounts (up to 5,000 IU) to reap all the benefits of this remarkable hormone. Vitamin D3 can be extracted from wool in an animal-friendly way, just as sheep are shorn without harm so that the wool can be used for clothing. Acquiring vitamin D from wool actually mimics what animals do when they lick their fur to obtain vitamin D.

Vitamin D2, also called ergocalciferol, is made from irradiated mushrooms. This substance has a very weak vitamin D effect and a very high side-effect profile. Although this is probably the kind of vitamin D your doctor would prescribe, his decision is based upon pharmaceutical industry marketing and not concern for what is healthiest or most natural. I would never recommend vitamin D2.

Vitamin D helps promote bone health, cardiovascular health, emotional health, strength, hair growth, immune function, and normal cell life span. So take at least 5,000 IU daily to ensure the best health you can have!
